Beginnings…

On Wednesday, I begin my doctoral studies at the Peabody Institute. I am simultaneously relieved to be beginning my final educational endeavor and mortified at the prospect of completing all the work that looms before me. I will miss being around my daughter Lila though. The summer provided me with ample time to play and watch her grow!

In other news, I will also be working at Johns Hopkins University as the Director of the Wind Ensemble and Pep Band for the Homewood Arts Programs. I am looking forward to starting with the Hopkins students and experiencing my first ever Lacrosse Game. Pep Band at lacrosse? Who knew?

Ára Bátur Recording COMING SOON!

Great news! The Oregon Wind Ensemble finished a recording session for the wind arrangement of Ára Bátur last week! We will be editing it this week and I will send a copy to the band. Hopefully we will be able to put it up for fans to listen to – stay tuned!

Wonderful Music Event in Eugene![M]

Hello everyone! If you are looking for a different type of concert experience and you are within driving distance of Eugene, Oregon, you should check out:

I will be conducting one of the pieces with the Oregon Wind Ensemble – Jonathan Newman’s Chunk – a FUNK piece for wind band! I will also be playing piano on the world premiere of an arrangement I made of the song Ara Batur by the band Sigur Rós. The event goes from 6 pm until 10 pm and includes a lot of amazing music that doesn’t get heard very often! The concerts will be in different rooms throughout the music building including the courtyard outside
